Face The Expensive Price of Teak Wood

As we often hear, that teak wood is a one of kind of exotic wood and has good quality, especially if used for make wooden furniture products,it would be good result surely and would also be much demand. But, the exoticism of teak wood will make a lot of people (furniture craftsmen) became anxious. The cause is a matter of price, to be known, if per cubic of teak market price for now very expensive, much more expensive than other wood types such as mahogany or acacia wood. At this time, The small diameter of teak wood prices was quite expensive, moreover the larger diameter of teak, its price will be very expensive surely.
Teak Wood Price
Anxiety of furniture craftsman in this situation is not without reason, because, if the teak price became more expensive, it means, automatically the production costs would be more great than normally. And the cause for concern, although the teak wood price (raw material) is expensive, but the furniture craftsmen is still difficulty to increase the price of goods produced. As experienced by the small scale furniture craftsman or home industry in the Pasuruan (East Java - Indonesia), Jember (East Java - Indonesia) and Jepara (Central Java - Indonesia).

The cause is the tight competition. Whether in pasuruan, Jember and in Jepara, the furniture craftsman not only there are 1 or 2 people or industry, but so many, even there are  hundreds or more  number of furniture craftsman (industry) in the three areas. So, they must compete to win the market in order to stay in existence. And unfortunately, the competition they do is slam the price, that is with offer goods at cheaper price than their competitors so the markets (buyers) became interested to buy.

The question is how can, with the high price of raw materials (teak wood), the goods produced should be stay sold at a low price?

The answer is of course can not and will not be, but in this situation, the furniture craftsman was expected to have good strategy to face it, in order to they can continue running their business, or if not, they could bankrupt.

Then, how the furniture craftsman face the high price of raw materials (teak wood)?

For maintain their existence, many of the furniture craftsman turn to use alternative raw materials. If usually they use teak wood as raw materials to make some furniture products, now many of them are turning to use other wood types that are cheaper and the supplies still abundant, such as mahogany, acacia wood, Meranti wood, ketangi wood, bayur etc.. In addition, the use of raw materials such as plywood or multiplex also prevalent they use to face the high price of teak wood.

The second solution that usually used by the furniture craftsman is with change the wood thick size used. For example : in the manufacture of a wooden table, if a wooden table is usually made using wooden board with a thickness of 3 cm, Now, they are using wooden board with thickness of 3 cm for outside part only. While for the inside part, they using wooden board with 2 cm thick. So, thus the amount of raw materials used to make the wooden table more little than usual, and of course the production cost could be cheaper. And even though their products are sold at lower prices than usual, the furniture craftsmen have nothing to lose.
